Olympic Games archive

With the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro just over a month away, we have been into our archives to extract a short case study relating to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games velodrome. It was conducted in 1994, just a few years after Broadleaf was founded and before Sydney was awarded hosting rights for the 2000 Games. You can read about it here.

We were also involved in quantitative analysis of the uncertainty in the budget for the 2000 Games. We worked with the NSW Treasury before the Games were awarded to Sydney, and with the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet after the award, to determine the chance of delivering the Games within the approved capital and operating budgets.

Shortly after we prepared this case study, the Australian Olympic Committee announced that Australia's flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games would be Anna Meares, Austraia's most successful track cyclist. Rio will be her fourth Olympic Games. Congratulations and best wishes!
