Broadleaf and Landell launch Risk Management for Government course

In conjunction with Landell, Broadleaf will be delivering a public risk management course in Melbourne on 20 November 2014. The course is aimed at Government officials who need a good understanding of risk management to undertake their duties.

Landell is one of Broadleaf's strategic partners, specialising in Government procurement and probity, commercial advisory, ICT supply design and sourcing, negotiation services, and social procurement.

The course is assessable and will contribute towards a Certificate IV, should students opt to undertake formal assessment.

From designing and delivering policy and service innovation, to ensuring that services achieve intended outcomes, risk management is critical to confident decision making. This short course leads participants through the ISO 31000 risk management process, equipping them with valuable skills to aid decision-making and provide frank and fearless advice to decision-makers.

Broadleaf will lead participants through good-practice risk management and how to apply it. Broadleaf has been and continues to be heavily involved in risk management standards including the Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand Joint Technical Committee OB-007 Risk Management, and has provided major contributions to ISO 31000 Risk management - Principles and guidelines and IEC 62198 Managing risk in projects - Application guidelines.

What will I learn about?

The course runs for one day. Participants will learn about good-practice risk management including:

  • Risk management in Government
  • AS/NZS ISO 31000 Risk management - Principles and guidelines
  • The risk management process
  • Establishing the context
  • Identifying and analysing risk
  • Evaluating and treating risk
  • Monitoring and reviewing risk.

Government case studies and scenarios for interactive activities will be used to provide greater relevance to participants.

To attain the Certificate IV unit of competency (optional), students will need to sit and pass an exam which is administered on the same day.
